hello~~ i'm not really in the missions committee, but.. i wanted to share something related to missions and... stuff happening overseas
well, while people were having a good time at the Shane & Shane / David Crowder Concert, i was... at my saxophone teacher's concert where there was a section about what the little church hosting the concert did overseas at... of course, Uzbekistan =P
as is the case for most of those... small, hard, korean churches that lack resources, the missionaries' experiences weren't much of a go-up-to-a-stranger-and-share-the-Gospel kinda thing... they simply went there to deliver medical supplies for the benefit of the people there...
what really touched and inspired me... was the attitude these oppressed, hardlife-living people had towards God... i saw like... a few pictures with the missionaries commenting about them...
before i start talking about these people, i wanna share the kind of circumstances that face these people:
1) they're not allowed to worship God freely as we do, so they lock themselves in with a gate and a concrete wall around the house where the have the church so that the cops don't come around and arrest them (they can't have fancy church buildings, so they worship in a house), put curtains up so the sound dosen't leak out, while it's VERY HOT inside, where there's about... 100 people, no air conditioning or one of those... sun thingyg giees...
2) they praise for 1 hour (they actually leave water outside in a bucket with like... 2 cups (they share the cups) so people who get thirsty from praising can drink water and then... praise some more!) and... worship 1 hour more, and then... pray 30 minutes at the end EVERY SUNDAY...
well... the pictures they brought.. i saw these people, in spite of their harsh conditions where they can be arrested if any cop just strolls by the house, they're raising their hands and their voices... i obviously can't hear them sing from pictures, but the expression on the people's faces and the way they have the hands up.. just.. showed how passionate and intimate in worship these people were, irresponsive to the circumstances around them... i was so humbled and challenged by their worshipping attitude... i mean.. what can i say do to make it any more clear, other than it was beautiful...
worship is such a beautiful thing~~ =D let's really use it to glorify God when we worship God at church and when we live out our lives as we answer Jesus' commandment to testify about the Gospel to others in our lives!! =D
